Product name: Adidas Dame 5

Colorways: 12

Best for: Basketball, standing all day, looking cool

Bad for: Dirty hardwood floors

What is the Adidas Dame 5 Shoe?

These shoes are made with sleek and style in mind.

They feature a low top design and are ready to go out of the box.

The soft suede upper and bounce midsole promotes comfort and cuts down on weight.

The midsole houses the bouncy and lightweight cushioning while the midfoot and tongue houses the internal pods.

The midfoot banking barrier ensures lots of stabilization and support for quick bursts of movement in lateral directions, allowing for quick changes of direction without slipping.

To finish it all off, Adidas has given this shoe a herringbone traction pattern for extra grip on all types of surfaces.

Adidas Dame 5 Outsole

This shoe comes in a total of 12 different color options. They range from crystal white, to gold metallic and even night metallic.

The one that stands out to me is the the clear mint!

Features that Stand Out

Internal Pod System – If you don’t know what the internal pod system is, it is one of Adidas’ latest innovative technology.

Basically, the internal pod system “splits” the midsoles into 3 different groups.

For example:

The forefront features EVA technology, the heel contains the Boost technology and the last part contains Point of Deflection system.

Add all of these together and you have one hell of a comfortable sneaker!

Flexible Bounce midsole cushioning – The Flexible Bounce construction makes this shoe feel A-M-AZING on the feet. It’s what makes hard landings feel like landing on clouds.

It really is a comfortable shoe thanks to this feature and internal pod system, and that’s why everyone loves it so much.

Lightweight – The shipping weight is 2.45 pounds, however, that is the total weight.

I can not find the exact weight of this shoe, but after checking other versions, the weight of this would have to be about 13 ounces.

What I Like

The Comfort – What jumps out at me when reviewing this shoe is definitely the comfort.

There are lots of people loving it for the amount of cushioning it provides, ensuring lots of soft landings and a smooth and soft ride no matter the surface.

Adidas are well known for their comfortable shoes and the Adidas Dame 5 is no different.

Internal Pod System – So the other thing I like would have to be the internal pod system.

This technology is found on more expensive shoes, so it’s good to see that Adidas has put them on their cheap shoes too.

What I Don’t Like

There’s really not much to dislike but there are a couple things worth mentioning.

Hard to Get the Right Fit – There are many mixed reviews on sizes. Some people claim they’re too big, some claim they are too small and others say they are the right fit.

I break down below how to get the right fit.

Lacks Grip on Indoor Floors – Also the other thing I don’t like is the lack of grip on hardwood floors that aren’t squeaky clean. Users have experienced sliding around, especially if the floor is dirty.

Things You Should Know

Getting the Right Fit

Adidas Dame 5 Shoe Top View

These shoes tend to run slightly bigger than other shoes.

If you have narrow feet, I recommend going half a size down.

Otherwise if you have average width or even wide feet, just go for your normal Adidas size.

Those with wide feet might find them a bit snug but overtime they will stretch out a little.

Or you could try these methods to stretch them out.

Extremely Comfortable

Many reviewers claim how comfortable these shoes are on the foot.

The plush cushioning allows for lots of soft landings, and the extra heel padding ensures all day use without discomfort.

Other people use them for standing all day.

Lots of Ankle Support

There is lots of padding around the ankles to keep your ankles supported and comfortable.

I have similar shoes with the padded ankle system and let me tell you that they are extremely comfortable.

I weigh 245 sounds I enjoy the extra stabilization, which is a no-brainer when it comes to playing basketball, running side to side and performing quick lateral movements.

Aesthetically Pleasing

So these shoes have lots of visual impact.

I like the clear mint and red/white color combination.

They just look so cool.

They even get looks and compliments from strangers.

Who Should Wear this Shoe?

They really do make a great basketball shoe. As long as the indoor court is clean, they have amazing grip.

Otherwise they may slip on dirty hardwood floors.

They perform best for:

  • Indoor and outdoor basketball
  • Standing all day thanks to the comfort
  • Showing off to your friends
  • Visiting the mall
  • Going out
  • etc

In all honesty, there are lots of ways to wear these shoes thanks to the aesthetics and ample color options.

Do I Recommend this Shoe?

The Adidas Dame 5 holds an astonishing 4.6 star rating.

That is a high rating for a shoe in this price range.

There’s not much to dislike other than they run a little long.

But that can be fixed by going half a size smaller, unless you have wide feet then you should stick to your normal size.

There’s virtually no complaints and no negative feedback which is good to see. It shows that there’s really nothing wrong with this shoe and it performs as advertised.

And with that said, I would have to say that the Adidas Dame 5 is highly recommended!

Alternative/Similar Shoes

The Under Armour Men’s Lockdown 4 has much more traction on indoor basketball courts and costs less. However, there is less quality since it doesn’t cost as much as the Dame 5 and won’t last as long.

Also the Adidas Pro Vision shoe has lots of ankle support and performs well for standing all day. The downside is the thin gripping on hardwood floors, but definitely has a lower price tag.

My Final Opinion

What I like is that there’s virtually no bad feedback for the Adidas Dame 5.

And that is a big deal for a shoe in this price range with over 200 reviews.

That means it performs better than expected and people absolutely love it.

There are lots of colors, it’s hella comfortable and it features lots of support/stabilization to avoid injury on the court.

I have no complaints about it and highly recommend it.
