Nike Air Mavin Low: Good or Bad Shoes?

Getting the right basketball shoe is a must if you want the best session with little discomfort.

Nike Men's Air Mavin Low Basketball Shoe

To stay fresher for longer means you need a basketball shoe that’s proven to perform and the company has a proven track record of creating great sneakers.

Nike are certainly the best at “creating them all”, as there are other companies that make better basketball shoes.

However, Nike know what they are doing when it comes to basketball as they are the creators of Nike Air Jordans!

And that’s why I want to know what the Nike Air Mavin Low is and what it has to offer.

This is my unbiased Nike Air Mavin Low review, I hope you enjoy.

Bottom Line:

The Air Mavin Low’s are a great basketball shoe for the price and can also be used for weightlifting and casual wear.

There are a couple of bad things. It may squeak on some surfaces and can take a couple days to break in.

Other than that they are hella comfortable, have good arch support and fit true to size.

What is the Nike Air Mavin Low?

There isn’t much information about this sneaker on the internet as Nike has discontinued them and removed all information about it.

However, they are still available on Amazon.com and that’s where I will be doing some of my research today.

It consists of a durable leather and synthetic upper with a rounded toe.

The mesh upper adds ventilation and the lightweight overlays help cut down on weight.

They feature a half-length bootie construction for a comfortable and snug fit when worn, and padded collars for stability to keep your ankles in check.

The outsole consists of a rubber traction with a herringbone pattern, which provides immense grip for quick bursts of movements.

Do They Fit True to Size?

Yes!

Amazon has an 86% fit rate and customers from other websites claim they fit true to size.

They are also true to width as well. So everyone that bought them found them comfortable in the length AND width area.

This is good news as Nike’s tend to run small and most people always get the wrong sized shoe.

However, that is not the case with the Nike Air Mavin Low.

Some say they are actually good for people with wide feet as they are spacious enough for it but not too loose for others with normal feet.

True to size: Yes

Do They Have Arch Support?

They have great arch support as customers claim they are good for high arches and neutral feet.

60% say they have moderate arch support. That means 40% say they have high arch support.

Is that a lot?

Definitely.

This means they are good for anyone with a neutral and high arches.

If you have low arches or flat feet, I recommend trying the Nike AIR Precision II NBK instead.

These are basketball shoes that I personally wear for my low arches and find them EXTREMELY comfortable, especially for weightlifting!

Arch support: Neutral to high arch

What Can They Be Used For?

Basketball

The Nike Air Mavin’s are designed for basketball.

The padded collar emphasizes ankle stability by keeping ankles at bay.

Shoes with no collar allow your ankles to move freely which is a recipe for disaster during quick transitions.

Also the herringbone pattern is amazing for traction on indoor and outdoor courts.

They have proven to perform for basketball and I have no complaints regarding the abilities.

Weightlifting

I actually buy basketball shoes for weightlifting because they have a lot more cushioning and stability than running or walking shoes.

The extra ankle stability allows for heavy lifting without fear of your ankles giving out or cheating your form.

They help keep you at bay for the best technique, comfort and support.

And that’s why I use the NBK II basketball shoes I mentioned above.

Casual

There’s no doubt that a great pair of kicks gets the looks from passerby.

It’s a fact.

I’ve found out first hand and so have millions of others.

Basketball shoes always get the best designs and color patterns that stand out.

And these are no different. They are aesthetically pleasing and can pretty much go with any outfit as long as it’s casual.

How Long Do They Last?

If you use them strictly for shooting hoops or basketball games, they will last a pretty long time – over a year at least.

If you use them for weightlifting, they will easily last a year or more.

And if you use them for casual use, they will last a little less than a year.

However, this time frame can be extended dramatically if you look after them properly.

One customer complained that they didn’t even last a couple months.

But guess what?

They were using them for running!

They are not running or walking shoes and should not be used for any type of fitness other than basketball and weightlifting.

These are how you get maximum life out of them, by using them for low-impact activities or exactly what they are designed to do.

The Price and Where to Buy

The Nike Air Mavins are discontinued on Nike’s official website, but other websites still sell them.

Amazon have them for about $65 to $156, which includes a 30-day return policy, free shipping and fast delivery!

There are 2 colorways: Grey/Black/White and Black/White/Anthracite.

Both look amazing but my favorite is the grey colorway.

Do I Recommend the Nike Air Mavin Low Shoes?

When you really dig deep and find what they are all about, there really is nothing wrong with them.

I mean, they might squeak on certain surfaces which is not a big deal at all.

And they can take a couple days to break in for some people.

But what it comes down to is whether or not they are of high quality and do they perform?

And I can confidently answer those two questions with an easy yes!

They are really good quality for the price and can last a long time if looked after properly and used for basketball or other low-impact activities.

They aren’t $200 – $300 shoes so don’t expect them to last for years, but do expect to get the most out of them and a great basketball sneaker for the price.

Yes, I highly recommend the Nike Air Mavin Low Basketball Shoes!

My Final Opinion

They are better than average and have beaten my expectations.

It doesn’t offer a lot in terms of versatility but does perform for basketball and other things.

There’s only a small number of things wrong with it, and they aren’t even that bad.

So my final opinion is that the Nike Air Mavin Low’s are high value for money and have nothing wrong with them.

Nike have done an amazing job!

And that concludes my Nike Air Mavin Low review.
