What is the Nike Air Max Thea?

The official product description says that it was born as a minimalist alternative for the classic Air Max.

The upper consists of leather and synthetic materials, combined together to create support and lightweight.

The mesh inserts in the forefoot and heel areas promotes ventilation.

It features a Phylon midsole that adds cushioning, grip, durability and comfort.

It also includes Nike’s famous Air Heel Unit technology for responsiveness.

The Nike Air Max Thea is then finished with a visually appealing design.

Are the Nike Air Max Thea for Running?

Yes they are made for running.

In fact they have the quality construction and materials as they were inspired by original Air Max shoes.

They possess a minimalist design to cut down on weight, which has been proven to make you run faster – there’s been multiple studies on it.

Considering they have a proven track record, running in comfort and style in these sneakers are a no-brainer.

So yes, the Nike Air Max Thea are designed for running and as we already know, Nike know what they are doing when it comes to creating different shoes.

Are They Good for Working Out?

Most shoes have multiple uses and because I’m an avid gym goer, I like to know if I can take them to the gym and have a good workout.

Firstly lets look at the cushioning and stability.

Buyers continue to say how comfortable these sneakers are, and stay comfortable after wearing 8 hours a day.

Secondly, the stability is actually better than other running shoes thanks to the wide outsole.

Lifting weights requires a good amount of stability, ESPECIALLY if you’re lifting heavy.

However, crossfit requires even more stability and the Nike Air Max Thea has exactly that.

So are they good for working out?

Yes, they are great gym shoes and perform for pretty much everything in the gym.

Are They For Men?

Some of you may not know is that the Nike Air Max Thea is a women’s shoe.

To this day there are only women’s versions available.

They’re not specifically designed for men but if you’re a man and like the comfort, support and stability, and everything else you see so far, then you may want to get them.

There are women colors and there are neutral colors available, allowing everyone to find one they like.

If you’re a guy and want one for yourself, know that the sizes are completely different.

If you try to squeeze your way into one of these, chances are you will be let down and they won’t fit.

How to choose one that fits:

Something you can do is measure your barefoot from the back of your heel to the front of your toes.

Now add an extra inch for room to breath.

Get your final number, go to Amazon and use the size chart to find your proper size.

Are They Good for Standing All Day?

Nike Air Max Thea 2

That’s an easy yes.

The immense cushioning and cloud-like comfort makes it so comfortable for standing all day.

Some users wear them for up to 8-12 hours a day and have no pain or discomfort at the end of the day.

They put their feet up and still have happy feet.

If you decide to use them for standing all day, especially for your job, you will certainly enjoy the benefits these shoes have to offer.

How Long Do they Last?

They have a very affordable price tag which does raise some red flags regarding the quality.

For one, I know for a fact that Nike has discontinued these shoes.

All that’s left are knock-offs, or in other words, fakes.

If you decide to buy these shoes, know that you aren’t buying the real deal and you will be buying fakes.

They are made with more rigid materials that don’t break in as easily as authentic Air Max Thea’s.

The cushioning isn’t as good and performance is subpar.

The originals would have lasted a lot longer, but since we’re dealing with fakes, the quality has gone down and so has longevity.

The Nike Air Max Thea’s will last anywhere from 3 – 12 months.

In saying that, the lifespan all comes down to how often you wear.

Wear them all day, everyday, and you get a few months out of them.

Wear them a few times a week and you could make them last up to a year.

Are They True to Size?

Nike shoes usually run 1/2 a size small, but since we’re dealing with knock-offs, the sizing is way off.

The “fit rate” is 56% which is incredibly bad.

56% of customers say they fit them properly, while the other 44% say they did not.

Most shoes I review have a fit rate of 80% or more.

But if you want to get the right size, you will need follow the instructions I set out above, which is to measure your feet and compare it to the size chart.

The Bad Reviews

As you already know, the first major thing wrong with this product is the fact Nike isn’t making them anymore.

This means what you see on Amazon isn’t the real deal.

It’s where a lot of the negative reviews come from, people complaining about them being low quality, the material feeling hard and rigid, and not as comfortable as they should be.

The other bad reviews come from the sizing being way off, causing many customers to wear a shoe that doesn’t fit.

Do you spend even more money and send it back or pass it on to someone else?

Because I can tell you right now that breaking it in won’t do a thing.

Having rigid and tough materials like this makes it almost impossible to break in.

These two things alone are the deal breaker for me.

  • Fakes
  • Bad sizing

There is just too much to worry about when there are far better shoes at this price that you can get.

But before we get into that, lets look at the good and the bad as a whole.

The Good and the Bad

The Good

  • Pretty comfortable
  • Versatile

The Bad

  • Fakes
  • Bad sizing
  • Only available in women’s

Do I Recommend the Nike Air Max Thea’s?

Man, what a huge let down these shoes are.

In Nike’s defense, they stopped making them ages ago.

So the ones being sold aren’t actually their work.

Yes the originals were amazing and definitely stood up to the Air Max name, but these knock-offs are bound to let you down.

I simply cannot recommend these shoes because there are far too many things wrong with them.

They’re impossible to break in, the sizing is messed up, and the materials are bad.

These fake shoes are not even close to being good, so on that note, here’s my answer.

The Nike Air Max Thea’s are NOT recommended!

If you still want to carry on with the Air Max product line, I have a couple of alternatives below.

Alternative Nike Air Max Shoes

The Nike Air Max 97 Running Shoes are far more comfortable, they’re just as versatile and even offers a retro look. Although they are perfect for running and the gym, be prepared to pay a little more money.

Nike Air Max 97

Next up is the Air Max 270, easily one of my favorite shoes ever! It’s made for crossfit but easily capable of doing some running and walking exercises. However, it’s not good for wide feet or long distance running.

The Verdict: A Huge Disappointment

If Nike were still making the Air Max Thea Running Shoes, this review would’ve turned out a whole lot better.

But because they are discontinued and only knock-offs left, we are dealing with a huge disappointment.

I cannot recommend something so bad in terms of cheap materials, hard fabrics and not to mention a complete waste of money.

However, you can tell me to screw myself and get one anyway because at the end of the day it’s up to you.

But if I was in your shoes I would go for the Nike Air Max 97 Running Shoes.

And if you still want to get the Air Max Thea’s, you can do so here.
