Nike Reax Run 5 Review – Built for Comfort and Performance

It’s been awhile since I reviewed a pure woman’s shoe.

I have been a fan of Nike all my life and wanted to see what it’s all about, how it performs as a running shoe and what else they can be used for.

Purely women’s shoes are actually better than shoes designed for men and women.

Because the cushioning mimics the anatomy of a women’s foot to secure a more unique fit.

I want to discover everything this shoe has to offer, so I hope you enjoy my Nike Reax Run 5 review.

Bottom Line:

I personally think that this is one of the best women’s running shoes. It performs flawlessly for running and can be used for walking or high-activity jobs.

There is little-to-no arch support and should not be used for the gym, training, or sports.

But these are just small negatives as they are built for running and they do that without fail.

Such a great shoe with a healthy price tag!

What is the Nike Reax Run 5?

Nike Women's Reax Run 5 Running Shoes Front View

The Nike Reax Run 5 is specifically designed for running as it delivers a well-cushioned ride and smooth landings.

The manufacturers claim you can run like the wind thanks to the lightweight design and synthetic mesh upper for ventilation.

The leather overlays help keep the foot secure in place which adds a smooth and easy running experience.

The padded insole adds comfort and the Nike React heel technology ensures lots of heel cushioning…softening hard landings and increasing support.

The durable rubber outsole (tread) allows the shoe to perform on many different types of surfaces.

But as we’ve found out, any company can say their product is absolutely amazing, until they are used by the people.

Now it’s time to dig to the bottom of things and find out what we are really looking at.

Is the Shoe True to Size?

Sometimes buying shoes online can be a tedious process.

Some people worry about the shoe not fitting them properly.

What if the shoe isn’t as comfortable as they thought it would be?

Or what if it’s not good for the activity they want it for?

Well as it turns out, the Nike Reax Run 5 has a fit rate of 81%, meaning 81% of people found this shoe to fit them exactly as they thought it would.

I checked the hundreds of ratings.

As usual, Nike runs half a size small which means you can get your normal Nike size when ordering this shoe.

But if you’re coming from a different brand, I and many others, recommend sizing up by 1/2.

And regarding the width of the shoes, they run wider than usual and the toe box has extra room.

This makes it the PERFECT running shoe for women with wide feet or a wide forefoot.

Does the Shoe Perform?

Running

The Reax Run 5 are designed for running and they are superb in this field.

People just love how comfortable they are for running as it feels like they are floating with every stride.

They are good for running on the road, pavement and treadmill.

Of course the mesh upper means they are not water-resistant, but definitely a great choice for running in dry weather.

Walking

The outsole is designed for flexibility which is what walking requires, making them great for walking in.

A large majority of people wear them for walking and I have no complaints about the walking capabilities.

A running shoe that can also be used for walking is a versatile shoe in my eyes.

All-Day Comfort

Because these shoes are great for walking in, they can also be used for people on their feet all day like high-activity jobs.

Some users wear them for up to 12 hours a day and never feel any discomfort or pain after their shift is over.

And that’s on concrete floor.

So I have no doubts that they are good for standing or walking all day and actually recommend it due to the comfort they provide.

What Are They Bad For?

These shoes are not trainers and should not be worn in the gym unless it’s on the treadmill, using the machines or doing yoga.

Why?

There is not enough stability for crossfit activities or weightlifting.

They should also not be used for sports like basketball, tennis, or volleyball, as they are not designed for this type of movement pattern.

What I Like

Even though they are not as versatile as other shoes, they tend to be some of the comfiest women’s running shoes that I have ever seen.

That is something that I really like about them.

There is little-to-no arch support which is a massive plus for me, as most running shoes are designed for neutral or high arch.

I also like the colorways and the design.

They really do stand out and look “cute and stylish”.

I mean, I’m a guy and even I think they are cute.

So What are the Bad Points?

One of the major bad points is that people who don’t know about Nike’s weird sizing is going to be let down when their shoe doesn’t fit them.

And that’s exactly what’s happening.

Some customers buy the shoe, try it on, and become let down because it’s far too tight.

There is also not a lot of color options. There are currently only 2 colors and I don’t know if they’re coming out with anymore.

The Price & Where to Buy

The official Nike website are not selling these shoes right now and I don’t know why.

However, another place to get them is from Amazon.com.

So that’s my recommended place of purchase as they have a 30-day return policy and free shipping.

The price is $70 – $130, available in size 5 – 12 and 2 colorways.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Extremely comfortable running shoes
  • Cute and stylish design
  • Good for low arch and flat feet
  • Perfect for running, walking and all-day comfort
  • No pain after using them all day

Cons

  • Only 2 colorways
  • Runs 1/2 small
  • Not as versatile as other running shoes

The Nike Reax Run 5 Alternative

These shoes are absolutely amazing, but for some people they are a no-go.

For example: They are not good for people with a neutral or high arch, and definitely not for weightlifting or crossfit.

An alternative is the Nike Air Max 270.

Nike Air Max 270

This shoe is actually more stylish, can be worn for general use, ALL gym activities, working and standing all day.

However, running should be kept to short distance and should not be used for sports activities due to the lack of stability.

But it’s a great alternative for narrow feet and high arch nonetheless.

Final Verdict

Well where do I even start?

The fact of the matter is, this shoe has proven time and time again that it performs beyond expectations.

The comfort factor is incredibly high and everyone that buys it loves it.

They say how cute and stylish it is, and it’s perfect for walking, running, and general use.

There are some negatives like the lack of versatility and arch support, but no shoe is going to be perfect and no shoe fits all!

It’s as simple as that.

In my opinion, the Nike Reax Run 5 performs for what it was designed to do and one of the best women’s shoe I have reviewed so far.

Great job Nike!

Well that’s my final opinion.

I hope you found everything you wanted to know and I hope you have a great day.

Cheers.

  3. Nike has always been on top of the list of my favorite shoe brand of all time and this product just stricken more love for the brand. Considering the fact that the Nike Reax Run 5 was made specifically for running, the negatives do not really matter to me in any way.

Really nice to see that it was built specifically for women as this would make it much more appealing to women.

The design is attractive and the price isn’t much on the high side. This is good value for money.
