What is the Nike Revolution 4 Running Shoe?

This shoe is available for both men and women and consists of lots of different color options.

It’s feature-packed with a minimalist design to cut down on costs.

It’s one of Nike’s best selling running shoe which is the #1 reason I decided to review this bad boy.

It features molded pods for traction all kinds of surfaces. These work by flattening on impact and then springing back up when lifting off of the ground.

Revolution 4 Running Shoe Outsole

This special effect enhances responsiveness, speed, agility and more importantly a smoother ride.

The midsole consists of a soft foam, lightweight cushioning and underlays in the vamp and toe area for extra support and comfort.

The single-layer upper increases breathability and the no-sew overlays in the midfoot cuts down weight.

Features that Stand Out

Molded Pods – These molded pods are not found on many other Nike’s shoes, as this is the first shoe I have found with this technology.

I love it because it adds a more responsive cushioning.

Lightweight – Lightweight is always best when it comes to running. The lighter the shoes, the easier it is to move and run.

Whenever I get new shoes I ALWAYS opt for something lightweight and can breath.

Single-Layer Mesh Upper – One of my favorite features is definitely the single-layer mesh upper.

This typical system is best for cutting down on weight and increasing ventilation, which is always my #1 priority in running shoes.

What I Like

As mentioned above, my favorite feature is hands down the weight of this shoe and breathability.

However the second feature is the molded pod system.

This technology allows for more energy return and a responsive ride with every stride.

And in my experience with running, the more comfort and the lighter the shoe, the easiest it is to run further and actually enjoy the workout.

What I Don’t Like

Upon first glance, it features a clean look not really going to cause much visual impact.

I like my shoes to stand out and that’s why I usually go for something with a little more color and better design.

And the Nike Revolution 4 Running Shoe seems to possess a basic design.

However, that’s just my personal opinion.

They make up for the clean design with all the features.

Things to Know About the Nike Revolution 4 Running Shoe

Great Running Shoes

These shoes perform amazing as running shoes which is claimed by most reviewers.

The energy return on the cushioning and responsive of the molded pods make it a breeze to run and enjoy the workout.

They are good for running track and field, cross country, pavement and even road running.

The ease of use and performance of these shoes is the reason they earned a high star rating from the community.

Available in Normal and Wide Sizes

This is definitely something that stands out to me.

Most shoes I review do not have a wide size, leaving those with wide feet to suffer a narrow shoe or end up sending it back because it’s unbearable.

And then I have to try and find an alternative shoe for them.

Well the good news is those with wide feet can opt for the wide sizes and average feet people can order their normal Nike size.

Very Light and Comfortable

Nike doesn’t lie when they say how comfortable and lightweight these are.

The many reviews all over the internet prove at just how comfortable these shoes are for running and how they don’t even feel like they are on the feet.

It really does feel like running on sponges.

They are Not Waterproof

Remember how I said it features a mesh upper for breathability?

With the good comes the bad, because that means they are not waterproof and will definitely get water inside the shoe.

The only way to combat this is to use them when you’re not expecting bad weather.

No Toe Constriction

The toes are free to move around without any constriction whatsoever.

In many cases, shoes don’t have a large enough toe box and it constricts your toes from moving and causing discomfort/irritation, and sometimes pain.

Well the Nike Revolution 4 Running Shoe has a larger toe box to allow for free movement and does not need “breaking in”.

That’s for both the normal size and wide size.

Who Should Wear this Shoe?

They are mostly used for street running and that’s what others use them for too.

But because they are comfortable as hell, they can also be used for running errands, standing all day and walking all day.

Plus they are good for people with wide feet, which is not something I can say all the time.

Most shoes I review are too narrow and cannot fit wide feet people comfortably.

Basically, if you want one of the most comfortable and affordable running shoes on the market, these are for you considering the high amount of cushioning, support and responsiveness.

Where to Get the Nike Revolution 4 Running Shoe?

I was expecting them to be way over $100 as I was reviewing them, but it turns out they are much less than that.

They’re priced at 60 – $70 which is amazing considering the amount of features they provide.

I always look at the different online stores to find the best prices and Amazon happens to be the one with the cheapest price, fastest delivery and even free shipping.

Plus they have a 30-day return policy for anyone that doesn’t like their purchase and can send it back.

Do I Recommend this Shoe?

I have reviewed this shoe inside and out and scoured the internet for hours to find the good and bad.

The good is the cushioning, comfort, lightweight and ventilation.

I couldn’t find much bad other than a few minor complaints.

For example, one guy returned them and gave it 1 star because there was no removable insole.

I mean, that’s no reason for a negative review. It was his own fault for not checking if it did or not prior to purchase.

Another guy gave it 1 star because he used it for something not designed for which was volleyball, and they did not last long.

Again, his own mistake for not using it for its intended purpose.

If you use these for what they are designed for, which is street running, it’s going to perform exactly as advertised and should last a reasonable amount of time.

Due to the many good points I have found and the few negatives, I would have to say that the Nike Revolution 4 Running Shoes are highly recommended.

Alternative/Similar Shoes

These are great running shoes but lack in aesthetics which is my only issue (although only a minor). Another running shoe I like is the Saucony Kinvara 10 and actually looks a lot better.

It’s a little pricier but definitely a great alternative.

The Nike Air Max 97 is also a common shoe that I see people wearing at my gym.

They have lots of color options, they are versatile and make great workout shoes (walking, running, lifting weights, etc). However, the downside is the increased price range.

My Final Opinion

These are the best and most affordable Nike running shoes I have reviewed thus far.

There is little to no negative feedback, and they boast an astounding 4.6 star rating on the many different online stores.

There are shoes much more higher in price with more negative feedback, so it just goes to show how well these actually perform and last.
