Reebok Lifter PR Review – Cheap But Worth It?

I have a confession to make.

I have been reviewing lots of weightlifting shoes lately.

Why?

Because I’m a weightlifter and have been for almost 10 years.

I enjoy everything about it and find weightlifting shoes seriously interesting.

Some are extremely expensive and some are highly affordable, just like the Reebok Lifter PRs.

They’re in the lower price range category and have accumulated over 1500 reviews on Amazon alone.

How it got so much great feedback with such a low price is beyond me.

However, I like to do my own research before coming to any conclusions.

This is my unbiased Reebok Lifter PR review. I hope you enjoy.

The Lifter PRs are designed specifically for weightlifting.

It has comfort, flexibility, and stability all in one.

Basically, striking a balance between breathability and strength.

It includes a full-grain leather toe and air mesh panels on the tongue and around the heel.

They feature the Powerbax TPU plate, a strong fabric that emphasizes stability and support.

The dual rubber outsole ensures a stable ride, while the hook and loop straps lock the foot in place.

What are these shoes best used for?


I don’t know why Amazon has “cross-training” in the name.

They are definitely not good for cross-training, running, jogging, quick bursts of movements, or anything like that.

In fact do that and I can almost guarantee an injury.

They’re a little more versatile than stiffer shoes like the Adidas Leistung.16 II, which means they’re good for functional lifts like the leg press, seated calf raise, lunges, etc.

By “functional” I mean you won’t have to change your shoes with every exercise.

But for crossfit? That’s a big no-no.

These perform extremely well for squats, deadlifts, bench press, cleans, snatches, and any other heavy exercise.

They’ve got great stability and lockdown which gives you a peace of mind and the confidence to put more weight on the bar.

What the people say


One reviewer said he was able to lift heavier and hit more depth on high bar squats.

They feel like they grip the floor really well and had no issues with lockdown security.

Many people notice a positive difference the moment they put them on.

One reviewer said this shoe is more suited for functional lifts rather than just a squat shoe.

A squat shoe has a higher heel to go deeper for squats. Whereas the .86″ heel makes it good for a variety of exercises.

How does the price compare to the quality/performance?


The price is outstanding for what this shoe actually offers.

Of course the price is cheap but they do perform for heavy lifts and a variety of other exercises.

Bottom line:

They may be a little cheaper, so expect them to last less than a shoe worth $200 or more.

But in all honesty.

I am happy with it and how well it stacks up to the cheap price tag.

It really blew my mind. I would even pay a little extra for this shoe.

Can you do burpees, box jumps and other similar WOD exercises?

Everyone says no, they should not be used for cross-training exercises.

Even though they have “Cross-training” in the name, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

They are better suited for weightlifting exercises, not workouts that require running, jumping, lateral movements, etc.

Can they be used for running?

Absolutely not.

They are far too heavy for running and don’t have the right amount of flexibility.

They are best used for lifting only.

Do they run true to size?

They have a 75% fit rate on Amazon.

That’s about average.

All you need to know is that shoe companies keep their sizes consistent across the board.

If you own a pair of Reebok shoes already, then you only need to order your current size.

Otherwise you can use the size chart on Amazon.

Do they fit wide feet people?

The toe box is a little wider than usual, allowing those with wide feet to fit comfortably.

Everyone with wide feet say they didn’t expect it to fit it, but they actually did.

I’m a women but they don’t have the color I want. Can I get the mens version instead?

Multiple women have bought the mens versions and say they fit good and comfortable.

However, you will need to convert your women size to mens by using the size chart.

A rule of thumb is to go 2 sizes down. If you’re a 10 in women’s, buy an 8 in mens.

Are they good for heavy lifts like squats?

Yes. In fact that’s what they’re designed for.

They’re heavy with a solid platform to keep you glued to the floor.

Someone said they squatted 500 pounds with these and they worked perfectly fine.

For a cheap shoe that is surprising.

Are the soles removable?

No.

Are they good for calf raises?

I wouldn’t recommend it.

Calf raises require a good range of motion in the forefoot, and these do not have it.

Although one reviewer said they are okay for seated calf raises.

So do I recommend the Reebok Lifter PRs?


That’s a definite yes.

I have reviewed many premium lifting shoes, all over $100, and some in the 200 price range.

The Reebok Lifter PRs are exactly what Reebok say they are.

Well, without the cross-training part of course.

Reeboks official website say they’re weightlifting shoes, but Amazon has them as a cross-trainer, which is totally wrong.

They are 100% weightlifting shoes.

And they’re a beast in the gym.

After considering the cheap price tag, the weightlifting abilities, and the fact that everyone loves them, I have no choice but to also love them.

There are many pros, and the only con isn’t even a big deal.

And even if you are after a cross-trainer, you can check out my alternatives below.

But the Reebok Lifter PR gets the big thumbs up.

Alternative/similar shoes


You might’ve entered this review thinking the Lifter PRs are cross-training shoes.

Well they are not and will never be good for cross-training. However, you need to check out the Nike Metcon 5 which are some of my favorite cross-trainers.

The Reebok Nano 2.0 are also good. I couldn’t find anything wrong with it, even to this day. They are visually appeaing and can take a beating during intense cross-training sessions.

My final opinion


The Reebok Lifter PR are a staple among avid gym goers.

And they will be for quite some time.

They are so popular even after many years, Reebok still have them on their website!

That says a lot.

Usually shoe companies don’t bother restocking once they run out and just discontinue them.

But it’s clear that they continue to sell year after year because of how good they are.

For now they aren’t going anywhere.
