If you’re looking for a shoe that’s a little heavy and lacks ventilation, you’re looking at it.

Although that’s everything wrong with them.

They are, in fact, great running shoes that performs for daily running activities.

They are so comfortable that everyone has nothing but nice things to say about them.

And the outsole promotes speed and a natural running motion – both are good for daily running.

The Rundown


The Saucony Ride Iso 2 is the second model of the Iso product line, with a few changes here and there. But I’ll talk about the changes later.

It’s designed with neutral runners in mind, those that have a neutral gait.

They say they are for runners that crave reliable comfort.

The comfort factor has received lots of great feedback since its release in April 2019.

It also includes a highly adaptive fit, promoting a unique feel for every wearer.

It features an 8mm offset, neutral arch support and a 9.8 ounce weight, putting it in the medium weight category.

They’re designed for road and track, but we’ll do a full rundown on that soon.

The Upper


Saucony Ride Iso 2 Top

The upper is made from a double-jacquard mesh material. This adds strength without sacrificing breathability.

Its form-fitting design promotes a sock-like fit, which is where all the positive feedback comes from.

You can thank the internal bootie for that. It’s incredibly comfortable.

The toe box is a little wider than some shoes, accommodating wide feet nicely.

The upper also includes a strong heel counter that locks the ankle in place to prevent slippage.

Padding sits around the collar to promote even more comfort and support.

All in all Saucony have spent most of their time, and made the biggest changes, in the upper.

They have really gone all out to create a stretchy, snug-fitting, durable and comfortable upper.

The Midsole


The midsole is the cushioning. It’s what you stand on.

The midsole includes Sauconys reliable PWRFOAM technology, which has strong impact-absorption properties and a responsive ride.

The ISOFIT and FORMFIT technology adapts to the wearers unique foot shape.

Think of it as memory foam. It gets comfortable the more you wear it.

The midsole strikes a balance between softness and responsiveness, and includes an 8mm heel offset. A 2mm increase compared to the Iso 1.

All in all, the midsole has lots of good features that make it comfortable. This technology added together makes it good for high-mileage running while staying lightweight and ventilated.

The Outsole

The outsole is the traction, it is the “grip” that keeps you glued to the earth.

The outsole on the Saucony Ride Iso 2 is a unique one.

It has speed grooves, flex grooves, reinforced areas and more.

The triflex grooves allows your feet to move naturally, and includes thin fabric for a bit of bounce in every stride.

This allows runners to run for longer, without getting as fatigued, smoother transitions, better ground feel and easy toe off.

Although the thinner material means longevity suffers a little.

Bottom line: The outsole is designed with speed, bounce and flexibility in mind. It’s not the most durable but it’s definitely built to perform.

Changes From the Iso 1


The Iso 1 had a 6mm drop, whereas the Iso 2 features 8mm.

There’s not really much noticeable difference, and your feet will adapt to this new offset fairly easily.

The biggest change lies in the upper.

It’s made with a double mesh material for maximum comfort and better air flow.

The outsole is way more thinner than the original, which was a thick carbon rubber.

Good for durability but lacks in the flexibility department.

The thin material of the Iso 2 allows for a natural movement pattern.

All the changes have been made in good faith, and have really upped the performance of this sneaker.

Although it does lack in some ways which I’ll discuss below.

How Do They Perform for Running?


Saucony are well known and reputable for their advanced racing shoes.

But this is not a racing shoe, so does that mean it’s not as good?

Actually no.

These perform really well in the running department, more specifically daily running, road, track, tempo, and long distances.

The comfortability is on a whole other level, and they’re good to go right out of the box (doesn’t always require a break in period).

Of course there are some flaws when it comes to running.

The extra padding around the ankles absorbs sweat and blocks air flow, meaning they’ll need to be washed more often.

Also they are a little heavier than other running shoes. They’re in the “middle” category.

Although not completely bad because it makes up for it in the comfort department.

That’s really the only bad things I could find regarding the performance. So that’s a huge plus.

The Stiff Heel Good for Supination?


Everywhere I look I see people saying they’re good for those who supinate, aka under-pronation.

This is because of the stiff heel.

Some do not like it, but it does work very well for people who supinate.

Even Saucony themselves say they are good for both neutral runners/walkers and those who supinate.

Keep in mind that the stiff heel does not hinder the performance or comfortability.

So if your heel rolls outward (supination), you will love these running shoes.

What do I personally think about them?


These are great running shoes that perform for most daily running activities.

They’re good for long distance and short distances, and comes in at an affordable price range.

The comfort factor stands out the most. That’s what everyone loves about them.

They aren’t the lightest shoe, but that shouldn’t be a problem for daily running anyway.

I just don’t recommend them for running races. You need a proper racing sneaker for that.

But for the beginner and expert daily runner, who aims to reach the runners hike, or simply wants to go for a daily jog through the city streets, these are highly recommended for you.

The Verdict: Comfort on Another Level


You’ve seen my review, you’ve seen the great feedback from the community, you’ve heard about Saucony’s good reputation for speedy running shoes.

The Saucony Ride Iso 2 is just as successful as the rest of their running sneakers.

If you buy these, expect them to last about at least 1 – 2 years, to keep you comfortable, to make you run longer, to run faster, and more.
