The Adidas Grand Court Shoes Are Not What You Expect

Whether you want something to style your outfit or go out for a game of tennis, these shoes might be for you.

Adidas Grand Court 3

The Adidas Grand Court are designed specifically for tennis and have made a comeback from the 70s.

But that doesn’t stop it from standing out in this day and age and becoming extremely popular.

On Amazon alone they have racked up a whopping 4100 ratings with 4.7/5 stars!

On the Adidas website it is also the same.

I wanted to find out what the big deal was.

Why is this shoe so good that has such high ratings?

That’s what I’m going to find out in this article.

Not worth the hype

  • Value for Money

Bottom line:

These shoes are great and perform as expected. They’re good for tennis and styling with certain outfits. But unfortunately there is a lack of quality that brings the rating down immensely. You’ll be lucky to get 6 months out of them with everyday use.

What are the Adidas Grand Court Shoes?

The Adidas Grand Court is a classic that dates back as far as the 70s!

It is now reborn and a winner in 2020.

It takes inspiration from the past and moves it into the future.

They feature a sleek and smooth upper, Adidas’ signature 3 stripes, and a plush midsole cushioning for comfort.

The rubber outsole is flat and wide which offers immense stability, especially for playing tennis.

A cloudfoam sockliner provides even more comfort so you stay supportive and pain-free throughout the day.

Are they comfortable?

Adidas keeps putting an emphasis on “soft”, “plush”, and “comfort”.

It seems that’s the best way to describe them.

And according to the thousands of online reviews, they are extremely comfortable.

They fit like a glove which makes it feel snug without being restrictive.

Others say they are like walking on clouds, and some say they are the most comfortable shoes they have ever worn!

I have no doubts that these people are right and have the confidence to say that YES, the Adidas Grand Court are very comfortable.

What about arch type?

By nature these shoes are more suitable for neutral to low arch.

So I thought they might be a problem for someone with high arches, but they are not.

Those with high arches say they were a little unsupportive in the first few days, but after they broke in, they were comfortable.

Are they true to size?

Yes, the Adidas Grand Court are true to size and have an 82% fit rate on Amazon.

However, those with wide feet have something different to say.

Do they fit people with wide feet?

I decided to do some extensive research to see what the big deal was.

As it turns out, they do fit wide feet but they have to go 1/2 a size up.

Also they are athletic shoes, designed for athletic people.

If you have unusually wide feet and don’t exercise much, do not get these as they will not fit properly.

Normal feet: True to size
Wide feet: Go 1/2 a size up
Unusually wide feet: Do not buy, will not fit

Do they perform well for tennis?

Well considering the fact that they are made specifically for tennis, they should perform for tennis, right?

And indeed they do.

They are amazing tennis shoes and perform greatly in this field.

They have the comfort (as we already talked about) to back it up and enough durability to handle the rough movement patterns that tennis involves.

They’re classic tennis shoes and a perfect choice for serious OG Adidas tennis players (or old people for short :P).

They can be used for a fun tennis game to playing professionally and I have no complaints about the game play abilities.

Easiest way to clean

Suede is actually really easy to clean as the fibers are so small that it’s difficult for dirt and grime to get inside.

Often times all it needs is a quick once-over with a magic eraser to remove the scuff marks.

However, the best way to clean them is with a damp cloth!

Some say they look brand new again once they have been cleaned, and that’s after months of use.

That’s the safest way and the method I recommend as using the washing machine can permanently damage them, and I don’t want that happening.

How long do they last?

Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of information regarding the longevity of these shoes.

Although I did manage to dig some things up.

One reviewer said he’s had his for 4 months, worn them everyday and they still look brand new.

Others said there’s didn’t last more than 3 months.

However, this is because they have extremely wide feet and they ripped through the sides.

Remember how I said these do not fit overly wide feet properly?

Well, that’s exactly why.

In saying that, these are some red flags that I cannot avoid when it comes to the durability of these sneakers.

I would be surprised if you get 1 year out of them.

Based on my findings and the fact that they aren’t expensive shoes, my guess is that the lifespan is about 6 – 12 months.

Negative reviews

Unfortunately there are going to be negative reviews as with everything sold on the internet.

The good news is that there isn’t really much to complain about when it comes to the Adidas Grand Court.

A few people said theirs arrived and they were already worn.

Others said they were different to the ones they ordered.

Also the quality is in question.

There are many complaints about these shoes not lasting a long time, and that’s definitely something worth pointing out.

You’ll be lucky to get 6 – 12 months out of them.

This does suck but fortunately there are better alternatives which I’ll talk about shortly.

The pros and cons

  • Very comfortable and snug
  • Affordable
  • Good for all arch types
  • Classics from the 70s
  • Good retro vibes
  • Easy to clean

  • A lack of quality, especially for the price

Do I recommend?

These are absolutely great shoes and I really like them.

However, the lack of quality is a big deal.

So many people say they don’t even last 6 months and that’s why I say you’ll be lucky to get 6 – 12 months out of them.

12 months would be a miracle.

So this definitely does affect my final rating.

I really wanted to like them because they are very comfortable, and do well on the court.

But only for the short amount of time they’re wearable!

Do I recommend them?

No, there are far better classics for this price.

The alternative

Reebok Club C 85 Casual Everyday Wear Shoes, Fashion Sneakers

The Reebok Club C 85 is a far better option.

It costs the same and has a wide and flat outsole for tennis games while looking sleek on casual outings.

The average lifespan is about 6 – 14 months which is far better than the Adidas Grand Court.

They do look different but a better option better because the quality is there as well as the comfort.

Plus they’re a classic! What more could you ask for.

My final opinion

I expected the Adidas Grand Court to be better than this.

It’s definitely perfect and performs well.

But unfortunately the quality isn’t quite there and it’s only good for a little while.

If you decide to wear them once or twice a week by adding to your rotation, they’ll last much longer and may be for you.

But they are by no means an everyday shoe if you expect them to last 6 months.

And that’s my final opinion.
