Reebok are a great brand that’s carved their path into the fashion industry.
They are one of the more common brands out there. It’s how I discovered the Reebok Club C 85 and wanted to do a review.
They do appear to be well known and that’s something that stood out to me.
I am not really a fan of Reebok but can’t really come to any conclusions as I have never worn their shoes.
So this is my completely unbiased Reebok Club C 85 review.
I will discover everything about this shoe and what we are really dealing with.
Is it a huge bargain, a waste of money, a big flop or a great purchase?
Well hopefully in this review you have a better idea about what this shoe is about and how you can use it in your own life.
Product name: Reebok Club C 85
Type of Shoe: Athleisure, everyday use
My Rating 4/5
This shoe is high value for money as it lasts about 6-14 months and does not skimp on features. Most people love it for the comfort, versatility, durability and affordable price tag. However, others dislike it for the lack of arch support and narrow design, but it is still a great shoe nonetheless.
What is the Reebok Club C 85?
The Reebok Club C 85 are made for athleisure and comes in 7 different colorways and features.
It is a rendition of the classic Club C sneaker but with the latest technology to keep up with todays ever-changing shoe industry.
The features include:
Soft leather upper
Die-Cut EVA Midsole
The soft leather upper adds support and comfort on the top of the foot and low-cut design provides a sleek appearance and mobility.
Also the Die-Cut midsole keeps the shoe lightweight while maintaining cushioning, which is highly important in sporting activities.
The rubber outsole his highly abrasive which stops the shoe from wearing out as fast and has immense traction on the court.
The molded sockliner adds even more cushion and durability.
The shoe is then finished with an iconic Reebok logo on the quarter panel.
The Claims of the Reebok Club C 85
So as I’m reviewing this shoe, there are a few things that stick out to me that makes me wonder is this all really true.
Because any brand can say their shoe is the best when it doesn’t even come close to how they described it.
I’m going to discover whether their claims are completely legit or a big fat exaggeration.
The claims I’ll be looking into are:
Versatile (athleisure, everyday wear)
Durable, comfortable, and lightweight
High abrasion-resistance rubber outsole
Are they Versatile?
Reebok is a company renown for their athleisure clothing line.
For those that don’t know, athleisure means during athletic events and settings like the workplace, school, casual, social occasions.
They aren’t meant for intense sporting activities but instead something low-impact like lifting weights, tennis or a small cardio session.
Reebok are renown for their versatility in many different settings.
You don’t even have to wear them to sporting events, they can be worn in the office and it will be completely okay because that’s exactly what they are designed for.
So can these shoes be worn for casual, everyday use, running errands, for work, out to lunch, shopping, etc?
The question whether they can be used for everyday use or to sporting events is a no-brainer. They can be worn for pretty much anything.
Are they Durable, Comfortable and Lightweight?
I checked the many online reviews that this shoe has accumulated.
And it appears that they do last a very long time. Because of that, people keep buying more and more.
There are reports of these lasting over a year before they start wearing down.
I mean, that’s impressive for a shoe that costs $40-$80 bucks.
Also the comfort factor is there.
Customers use these shoes for standing on their feet all day like nursing jobs, standing on concrete, etc.
So there’s no question whether these shoes are comfortable or not, the fact that people keep buying more after they wear out is all the proof I need.
Lots of users swear by these shoes and wear nothing but these.
And to be honest, I have been reviewing shoes for a long time and never seen so much positive feedback for a cheap shoe like this.
But is it lightweight as well?
Unfortunately I could not find the real weight.
The manufacturers state that these are lightweight and the reviews are happy to say that they are definitely lightweight.
They are a little bulky and made of leather. There is no mesh for ventilation so they won’t be hugely lightweight but they are going to be lighter than other shoes made of leather.
The good news is that because they aren’t made of mesh material, they can be used in the rain!
They aren’t waterproof but they are water-resistant.
Is the Rubber Outsole Durable?
One thing I really wanted to look into was whether or not the rubber outsole had high abrasion-resistance like they claim.
Sadly there isn’t much people talking about the quality because at the end of the day it’s the bottom of the shoe. No ones going to look at that.
However, when you look at the bigger picture, there is certainly a trend.
Most who buy this say it lasts for about 6 months to over a year, depending on usage.
That is actually really good and tends to lean more toward that the rubber outsole is made out of highly-abrasive material.
Although I cannot prove this, and I would be lying if I said it was simply the best.
I cannot say with 100% certainty but can definitely say the rubber outsole is strong and lasts a long time.
Price & Purchase Details
According to Reeboks official website, the retail price of these things go for about $150.
I doubt this is their normal price because it makes no sense. I know their site is down right now due to the Coronavirus and that might have something to do with the weird price tag.
But there are other places to get this shoe too.
At the moment Amazon are selling them for around $40-$60.
Pros and Cons
- High value for money
- Affordable price tag
- A solid shoe with a solid reputation
- Repeat customers
- Extremely comfortable
- They’re made for narrow feet
- Little to no arch support
Reebok Club C 85 Alternative
Unfortunately these shoes are not made for people with wide feet or even high arch for that matter.
I have a couple alternatives that you may want to check out for those that cannot fit these shoes.
The Altra VALI Sneakers are much better for high arch and wide feet, and also come at a cheap price tag. The downside is that they are not Reebok and don’t look as cool
The Altra CAYD Sneaker is better suited for casual use and office scenarios. It’s much more durable, lasts longer and even looks better (in my opinion). Plus they are good for high arch and accommodate wide feet nicely. The downside is the expensive price tag.
Well there is some good news and bad news.
My final verdict is that these shoes are great for the price.
There are far more people loving their purchase than those hating it.
Plus you’re always going to get complaints, even with the greatest product in the world.
No product is created for everyone and that’s why you get the bad with the good.
The good news is that the Reebok Club C 85 shoes have a good reputation and most people love their purchase.
They are good for many activities and the claims are found to be legit and no exaggeration.
However, the bad news is that people with wide feet or a high arch will never experience the comfort of these shoes because they are not designed for their foot type.
I have provided some alternatives above but there is also another thing you need to know.
There are negative reviews claiming the quality of the shoe is not as good as it use to be, but those were written in 2016 and 2017.
All complaints after that were about the lack of arch support and narrow design, making those older reviews mute.
Well that sums up this article about the Club C 85.
