Looking to see if the Nike Air Max 270 performs?
Or if it’s going to live up to the expectations just because it has “Nike” at the front of it?
Hi, my name is Brandon and I will be your writer today.
This is my blog where I talk about shoes, shoes and more shoes. This is what I love doing and I give nothing but honest advice.
I’m here to discover what the shoe is capable of and what it lacks.
I hope you enjoy and find everything you need to know 🙂
Great Shoe With Few Flaws
Bottom Line:
These shoes are not good for wide feet and not recommended for long distance walking or running, and most especially sports activities.
However, they perform flawlessly for general wear, the gym, and for people on their feet all day.
Short distance walking and running is okay but not to overdo it, as they are not designed for it.
Other than that, these shoes are simply amazing and they are built to perform and last!
Nike Air Max 270 Review
Product name: Nike Air Max 270
Type of Shoe: Cross-trainer
Best for: General wear, short distance running and walking, the gym, crossfit, standing all day
Bad for: Long distance running, long distance walking, sports
Price: $140- $250 depending on seller
What is the Nike Air Max 270?
So this shoe has an aesthetically pleasing design.
It’s available in many different colorways, men and women sizes.
It features Nike’s largest heel unit to date and a full-length React foam midsole.
Add these together and you’ve got striking visual impact and the utmost comfortable shoe.
It also consists of a padded tongue and collar for extra stability, especially in the ankle area.
Welded upper overlays keep the shoe lightweight and modern looking, while the removable lace toggle keeps the shoe versatile so it’s ready to go for any adventure.
The mesh upper increases ventilation to allow your feet to breath, which is also how the shoe stays lightweight.
Nike tops it off by keeping the toe area “sewless” for extra durability.
Finding the Right Fit
Most Nike shoes tend to run small and that is also true for the Nike Air Max 270.
Anyone that wears Nike shoes can order their normal size and they will fit like a glove.
Anyone else that doesn’t usually go with Nike will need to order 1/2 size up to get a good fit.
However, keep in mind that they are not a good fit for wide feet. They will struggle to get a comfortable fit, even if they go up one whole size.
So unfortunately those with wide feet will have to look elsewhere, or look at my alternative at the bottom of this article.
What Are They Best Used For?
General wear
These shoes are absolutely comfortable which is what makes them so good for general wear (running errands, looking cool, going out to lunch, etc).
People love them because of how stylish they are, and I would have to agree with them.
They are easy on the eyes and make great everyday shoes for someone that wants to be comfortable and stylish at the same time.
The gym
Yes they are okay for the gym, such as: the treadmill, weightlifting, using machines, crossfit, etc.
The extra ankle stability allows the wearer to stabilize heavy lifts more easily like deadlifts, squats, military press, etc.
However, you should stay away from activities that involve lateral/side-to-side movements (basketball, tennis, volleyball).
These sports require lateral movements and the Air Max 270 doesn’t have enough stabilization for that.
Running
Unfortunately they are not made for running.
However, that doesn’t mean that running is off the cards completely.
I don’t care if you use them for a warm-down. A 1 mile jog after an intense weightlifting session or crossfit workout is completely okay.
But don’t do anything long distance as you’ll be opening yourself up to the possibility of injury.
Walking
There are lots of reviewers saying that they are good for walking on the treadmill or even out on a daily stroll.
However, they should be kept to low-impact only and nothing serious.
They have a mesh upper which is designed to keep the feet cool and lightweight, but intense workout sessions may make your feet hot, so keep that in mind.
For intense walking or running sessions, I recommend a shoe with the Flyknit technology.
So what are these shoes best used for?
In my opinion, they are best for general wear, all-day comfort (for someone on their feet all day), and exercising.
Long distance running, long distance walking, and sports is completely off the tables.
But for everything else, they perform flawlessly and I have no complaints about it.
What I Like
Heel Unit – The heel unit is absolutely outstanding as reviewers claim. It makes the heel incredibly comfortable and that “you need to feel it to believe it”. It helps stop the heels from getting tired after a long day
Padded collar and tongue – This little feature has a powerful impact. I have shoes with this technology and I love everything about it. It allows me to lift heavy weights without losing stability and keeps me comfortable all day long
Aesthetics – The many different color options makes this shoe stand out from its competitors. It gets the eyes everywhere it goes. And you may even get some compliments 😉
No-sew tip – The no-sew toe tip increases the durability of the shoe and allows it to last longer. This is something I have not seen on many other shoes yet, so I just had to include it
What Are the Bad Points?
There are a few things wrong with this shoe that I think are worth mentioning.
First and foremost, they are not made for wide feet. Those with wide feet put them on and realize they are far too tight.
Secondly, they are not good for long distance walking, running or sports activities. This can be a huge let down for some people.
Thirdly, the colors are a little misleading. They look cool in the official product images, but in real life they are a little different. This can be a problem for people that want exactly what it shows in the pictures.
Is this a lot of bad points considering the high price tag?
Not really.
They are only small cons and have nothing to do with the performance of the shoe.
They are not made for fitness walking/running, or even sports, so I do not expect them to perform in this field.
The Price & Where to Buy
They go for over $200 on the official Nike store.
However, other sites like Amazon have them for $140 – $180, which is much cheaper.
So that is my preferred place of purchase, especially because of the the 30-day return policy and free shipping.
They come in men and women sizes, and many different colorways.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Good neutral and high arch support

Cons
- Not good for wide feet
- Not recommended for long distance walking, running or sports
The Nike Air Max 270 Alternative
Just like the Air Max 270, the Air Max 97 can be used for all-day comfort and the gym.
They are a better alternative for running and walking, and especially for those with wide feet!
They are about the same price but durability is high and they also have incredible comfort.
So that’s my #1 alternative.
Final Verdict
The Nike Air Max 270 aren’t as versatile as other shoes but they do PERFORM, and they perform very well.
They may not be good for walking and running long distances, or sports/athletics, but they do for everything else.
They are one of the most stylish shoes I have reviewed on this blog and I have no complaints about it.
They are on the pricier side but that’s because they are built to last a long time.
So that’s my final verdict on the Nike Air Max 270 and I hope you enjoyed this review.
